Multistream extension
Free, no account needed. Version 1.6.0.
The website works without it. The extension adds what a website can't do by itself:
- Plays streams in Twitch's own player, so your watch time earns channel points and your subscriptions skip ads.
- Shows your points balance and claims bonus chests automatically.
- Lets you bet on predictions and speeds up laggy streams (latency reducer).
Which browsers
- Works in: Google Chrome and Brave, on a computer (Windows, Mac or Linux).
- Not tested: Microsoft Edge, Opera and other Chromium browsers. They use the same extension system, so it may work, but it isn't checked there.
- Doesn't work: Firefox, Safari, and any phone or tablet. The website still works there, just without the extension's features.
Install in Chrome or Brave
- Download the zip with the button above.
- Unzip it (on Windows: right-click the file → Extract All…). Move the folder somewhere it can stay, like
Documents: if you delete it, the extension stops working. - Open the extensions page. Paste this in the address bar and press Enter:
chrome://extensionsBrowsers don't let websites link to this page, so it has to be pasted.
- Turn on Developer mode: the switch in the top-right corner.
- Click Load unpacked and select the folder you unzipped (the one that contains
manifest.json). - Log in on twitch.tv in this same browser, then open Multistream (reload it if it was already open).
Some browsers show a warning about developer-mode extensions when they start. That's normal for extensions installed this way; click to keep it.
Updating
This page tells you when there's a new version. Download the zip again, replace the files in your folder with the new ones, and click the reload arrow on the Multistream card in the extensions page.
Why not other browsers?
- Firefox only installs extensions signed by Mozilla, so a downloaded zip can't be installed there for good.
- Safari uses a different extension format, and phones and tablets can't run browser extensions.
Privacy
The extension only runs on Multistream and on Twitch. It uses your twitch.tv login in this browser to read your points and claim bonuses, the same way 7TV's auto-claim does. Your Twitch session is never sent to the Multistream website or anywhere else: the site only receives balances and claim results. Its code is plain, readable JavaScript: you can open the files in the zip to check.
